The texture of The QUEEN EMMA’s pressed serum is similar to The RARE INDIGO beauty balm, but much more silky-smooth and concentrated. It feels almost like a gel, which would make this pressed serum act as a potent moisturizer and a make-up primer.

What is a pressed serum

In short, a pressed serum is anhydrous moisturizing concentrate that melts to fluid upon contact with skin. Although it visually looks like a balm, pressed serum differs from a balm in the composition of the ingredients and the manufacturing process. Typically a balm is a combination of cocoa, avocado, or shea butters with almond or jojoba oils and more commonly used waxes. Pressed serum on the other hand has a combination of powerhouse actives, rare and unique extracts, exotic butters, floral waxes, and is often much lighter in texture and fast-absorbing. This synergy of butters and floral waxes create an occlusive layer on the skin which moisturizes and nourishes, whilst giving the active ingredients of the pressed serum the opportunity to work their magic on the skin.

KEY INGREDIENTS

PASSION FRUIT
Also known as maracuja, this antioxidant-rich cold pressed oil is fast absorbing, light in texture and high in essential fatty acids, making it ideal for troubled and inflammation-prone skin. Rich in lycopene, vitamins A, E, C, and calcium and phosphorus it encourages collagen production for a smooth, firm and bright complexion.

BABASSU
Called by the indigenous people as the “tree of life” babassu is lightweight, quick-absorbing, non-comedogenic butter that melts on contact with skin. Babassu is high in lauric acid, wich provides anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Its unique composition delivers a cooling, refreshing sensation, a much needed for summer-kissed skin.

MURUMURU
Mumumuru butter offers unique composition of essential fatty acids (Omega-6 and Omega-3), Vitamin A and Pro-Vitamin A. These nutrients help to smooth the appearance of fine lines, help skin retain moisture, and fade signs of premature ageing, sun parks and dark spots.

ORCHID
Praised for their ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, orchids deliver anti-oxidant and humectant properties that soothe, condition and moisturize the skin. The presence of mucilage in orchids enables them to maintain skin hydration by functioning as a moisturizer and emollient due to its high water binding capacity.

KOKUM
Obtained from wild mangosteen, this silky, non-comedogenic butter is an exquisite emollient that improves skin’s elasticity, and firmness. Rich in antioxidant Vitamin E, and anti-inflammatory compounds, it helps protect cells from degeneration, dryness, and sun damage.

ILLIPE
Rich in unsaturated oleic and linoleic acids, illipe reinforces the skin’s natural protective barrier, resulting in more resilient skin. It helps protect the skin against the environmental damage, prevents premature damage by the elements, and helps to retain moisture in the skin.
